Materials
Onelessplasticbag is made from beautiful reclaimed sari fabric. They are made in the UK and in India

The saris in the UK are collected from the Oxfam Wastesaver, the clothes processing facility in Huddersfield. Clothes that don't sell in Oxfam shops are sent to Oxfam Wastesaver and then shipped out to other countries. We also supplement production with offcut fabric from local sari and fabric shops

The saris in India are sourced by the producers from local markets in Delhi. They choose reclaimed or offcut fabric, focusing on prettiness, strength and durability.

Design
No poppers, zips or fasteners are used in the production of this bag. We have worked out a clever way of sewing the bag so that it tucks away neatly into a pocket. It is made of just fabric and thread.

Quality
We have designed the bag to be strong and durable - you'd be surprisd by how much it can carry for such a light and often sheer fabric. The bags have been tested by being filled full of cans and shaken vigorously by the handles. They have been in use for over 3 years and we have had very positive feedback from many of our customers.

Health and Safety
We only work with people who share our concerns for the health and safety of producers, customers, animals, plants and the planet. We try very hard to 'tread gently' on this beautiful planet of ours...

Environmental Management
The bags are currently made in the UK so pollution generated through transportation is limited to a few car and train journeys to pick them up and drop them off at the retailers. We are also arranging fair trade production in India, using recycled saris but there will be an additional shipping carbon emission cost. We will use land and ship freight rather than air as much as we can and annually offset our carbon emissions. We prefer to plant our own trees and plants rather than go through offset schemes which have administration cost overheads.

We try to keep printing to a minimum and most paper used is made from recycled materials. We use soya based inks and recycled card for our ticketing.

Equal opportunities and diversity
We try not to discriminate and take people as they are. We try to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly women. We are interested in bright ideas and encouraging people to succeed. We welcome diverse inputs as it gives depth and flavour to what we do.

Ethical
We try to act as we would like to be treated - with dignity and respect. We will always be honest and direct with customers and suppliers and encourage them to be the same with us. We describe ourselves as 'an ethical organisation'.

Social Objectives
We encourage people to develop ideas that they have to prevent pollution and promote sustainability. We think that there is a huge potential for creativity around developing sustainable alternatives to everyday objects, and in persuading others to change their behaviour. We want everyone to be one less polluter...

Suppliers and Customer Vetting
Our suppliers are found through recommendation by people we trust. We make our own assessment based on discussion with the manager at the organisation. We look for integrity and honesty in how they talk to us and to their staff. We also look for, and try to encourage, environmental responsibility. We would not work with anyone who treated their staff or clients disrespectfully. We hope that our customers share our values in environmental and social responsibility..
